Why I Chose To Be A Therapist
My decision to become a counselor is the basic desire to give back. I appreciate the therapist, coaches, and mentors that have supported me through my life’s trials, assisting me in my personal health and well-being. The “tipping point” for pursuing my counseling degree came about after I took a different position at my job in 2012. The position caused daily anxiety and stress to the point I would dread Monday morning. I was depressed, couldn’t sleep and detached from my family. The anxiety and my way of living (not dealing with the anxiety) was taking a toll on my health. After seeking a doctor’s advice and doing some soul-searching, I decided to take action to rectify the situation. I decided to become a counselor at this time because I felt no one should have to experience these same feelings.
